Stableford
Trade strokes for points. Reward the good holes, shake off the bad ones, and chase the top of the board.
- Players
- 2 or more
- Format
- Points per hole
- Best for
- Keeping blow-up holes from ruining the round
How it works
- Each hole earns points based on your score against par.
- Standard points: double bogey or worse 0, bogey 1, par 2, birdie 3, eagle 4, albatross 5.
- Modified points reward aggression: double bogey or worse −3, bogey −1, par 0, birdie +2, eagle +5, albatross +8.
- Most points after the round wins.
Scoring and stakes
- Winner takes the pot: everyone puts in the stake and the top score takes it, with ties splitting.
- Or per point: each player pays the stake per point to everyone who outscores them.
Handicaps
- Net points by default, so strokes are applied before points are counted.
- 95% of course handicap is the WHS recommendation for individual Stableford.
Example
- Chris makes a net birdie (3 points), two pars (2 each) and a triple bogey (0).
- That's 7 points through four holes. The triple costs nothing extra.
