Team formats
Scramble
Also known as Captain's choice
The outing classic: everyone hits, the team plays from the best shot, and posts one score per hole.
- Players
- 2 or more, in teams
- Format
- Team stroke play, one ball
- Best for
- Outings and mixed-ability groups
How it works
- Everyone on the team tees off. Pick the best shot, and everyone plays their next shot from there.
- Keep going until the ball's in. The team enters one score for the hole.
- Lowest team total wins.
- It's the round's only game: there are no individual scores for side games.
Scoring and stakes
- Pot: everyone antes, and the low team splits it. Per stroke: teams settle the difference, split among each team's players.
Handicaps
- Gross by default. Turn on team handicaps to give each team a share of its players' handicaps: 35% + 15% for two, 20/15/10% for three, 25/20/15/10% for four.
Example
- Two teams of four. Mike's team shoots 62, Chris's 65: Mike's team takes the pot.
Settings you can change
- Teams
- Any number of teams, any size.
- Team handicaps
- Off (gross) or on.
- Stake
- Pot or per stroke, or 0 to play for points.
