Matches
Match play
The original golf bet. Win the hole and you go 1 up. Win more holes than the other side and the match is yours.
- Players
- 2, or 4 in two teams
- Format
- Hole by hole
- Best for
- A straight-up head-to-head
How it works
- Lowest score on a hole wins it. In 2 v 2, each side's best ball counts.
- Tied holes are halved.
- Fairway tracks who's up, and calls the match when one side can't be caught.
Scoring and stakes
- One bet for the round: the winning side collects the stake per player. A halved match is a push.
Handicaps
- Net by default: full handicap 1 v 1, 85% for best ball.
- Strokes can be given off the low player.
Example
- Mike wins 3 holes, Dave wins 1, the rest are halved. Mike wins 2 up and collects the $10 stake.
Settings you can change
- Sides
- 1 vs 1 or 2 vs 2.
- Net or gross
- Use handicap strokes or not.
- Handicap allowance
- Defaults to 100% singles, 85% best ball.
- Stake
- What each player on the losing side pays, or 0 to play for points.
