Junk
Also known as Dots, Trash, Garbage
Little rewards for the shots everyone remembers: on in one, up and down from the sand, the chip that drops.
- Players
- 2 or more
- Format
- Dots for extras, all round
- Best for
- Adding a little something to any game
How it works
- Greenie: on a par 3, on the green in one, closest to the pin, and makes par or better.
- Sandy: par or better after being in a bunker on the hole.
- Barkie: par or better after hitting a tree.
- Arnie: par or better without hitting the fairway.
- Polie: holing a putt longer than the flagstick.
- Chip-in: holing out from off the green.
- Mark junk on the hole as it happens. More than one player can earn the same item.
Scoring and stakes
- Each item is worth its dots, 1 by default. Many groups make greenies worth 2.
- Most dots wins. With a stake, each player pays the stake per dot to everyone who finished with more dots.
Handicaps
- No handicap strokes: a sandy is a sandy.
Example
- On 3, Mike gets up and down from the bunker for par: a sandy. On 7, a par 3, Chris hits it close and makes par: a greenie worth 2.
- Chris has 2 dots, Mike 1. At $1 a dot, Mike pays Chris $1.
